Located in the Dominican Republic, this all-inclusive resort offers the white-sand beaches, lush mountain ranges, and fertile valleys you hope for from a Caribbean island vacation. I was blown away by the luxury and variety of their offerings, but everything I explored, from their unique eco-friendly design to their amazing hydrotherapy experience, were just the tip of the iceberg for everything new The Grand has to offer.

A New Resort with Intentional Design
While I’m a pro at scoping out the best-of-the-best gym amenities, family-friendly offerings, and pool bar vibes of different resorts, my trip to Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana was my first opportunity to experience a brand new resort in the middle of a gradual opening for guests.
Moon Palace The Grand opened its doors in June 2026 with knockout features like its vertical design and elevated walkways that protect the natural mangrove ecosystem crucial to local wildlife and coastline preservation.
The beach feels like its own oasis away from the resort. Usually, the beaches at resorts are filled with resort sounds. At The Grand, the natural mangrove between the beach and resort makes it feel like it’s just you and nature. Instead of listening to a resort, all I could hear was the waves of the ocean, and that was magical.

With fifteen unique restaurants, two 18-story towers, nine outdoor pools, eight bars, a family entertainment complex (which is castle-themed, complete with a lazy river moat! My Disney heart was ecstatic!), a 77-room spa complex, and a full Eco Signature golf course, I only scratched the surface of what this resort has to offer.

So, you can imagine my surprise when I learned that entire sections of the resort—including a sports complex, a theater, a water park, more restaurants, and a casino—would be open to guests as soon as December 2026. New amenities and features become available daily!
Sustainability and the Future of The Grand
While I was there, I got to learn about the sustainable development of the resort, like how they preserved more than 228,000 square meters of natural vegetation, incorporating it into their design.
I got to watch as they actively trained entire teams to provide better guest service. While guest service is a standard for any resort, something that stood out to me was the way that The Grand is improving the lives of locals by investing in the development of Ciudad Palace, a community for resort employees and their families that includes housing, schools, parks, shopping, a medical clinic, church, police and fire services, and other resources.
While the full resort is projected to be open by December 2026, Moon Palace CEO Gibrán Chapur made clear that eco-friendliness was essential to the resort’s functions. As part of this vision, the resort plans to use solar energy during the day and wind energy at night as part of its renewable-energy strategy beginning in 2027.
